  1. External Affairs Committee :

    1. Objective:

      To promot the goodwill of the institution, act as the public relationship representative for the institution and strive to maintain proper contacts with external organizations.

    2. Responsibilities:

      1. To provide members updated market information about the textile and apparel industry.

      2. To organize seminars and other activities for member with external organizations.

      3. To arrange the Annual General Meeting for the institution.

      4. To publish the Institution leaflet for promoting the Institution to public.

  2. Membership Committee :

    1. Objective:

      To maintain and upgrade the professional standard of members

    2. Responsibilities

      1. To maintain and upgrade the professional qualification of members according to standard requirement and regulations set by the Executive Committee.

      2. To promote and invite relevant people to join as a member of the Institute.

      3. To keep and update the membership record.

      4. To reply for membership inquiry.

      5. To keep close contact with member of the Institute.

  3. Publication Committee :

    1. Objective:

      The general objective is to promote HKITA through publication. Specifically, this includes:Publication of REsearch Journal of Textile and Apparel so to enhance the academic status of HKITA, publication of Newsletter so as to keep member abreact with the activities and development of HKITA, submission of articles and papers to newspaper and journals and China Textile Engineering Society (CTES) so as to Strengthen the relationship with CTES and to enhance and influence and status of HKITA in mainland China, and other related activities.

    2. Responsibilities

      1. To publish the research journal of Textile and Apparel (including collection of papers, overseeing paper review process, editing of papers, printing and distributing the journals).

      2. To publish the HKITA Newsletter (collection of articles, translation between English and Chinese, editing, distribution of the newsletters).

      3. To collect and submit papers and articles to be published in the journal and newspaper by the China Textile Engineering Society.

      4. To publish other work that promotes the interests of the industry and HKITA.

  4. Education and Training Committee :

    1. Objectives:

      To organize and operate in-service training courses and preparatory courses for the professional examinations for personnel in Textiles and Clothing industry, and to evaluate and issue professional qualification to suitable personnel.

    2. Responsibilities:

      1. To provide members advice and the opportunities upgrade their professional qualification.

      2. To hold professional courses.

      3. To hold yearly professional examinations.

      4. To assist the industry to organize in-house training.

      5. To assist the industry to evaluate the overseas relevant qualification.

      6. To provide professional training service and consultative work for the member of the Institute.

    3. Professional Courses and Examinations:

      1. Advanced Diploma in Apparel Studies And Merchandising

        1. Entrance Requirements

          1. Normally at least 18 years old on or before the time of the examination; AND

          2. A student/licentiate member of HKITA, AND

            1. a holder of Diploma/Certificate in Fashion and Clothing or related fields; OR

            2. individuals of at least 25 years old with relevant industrial experience; OR

            3. individuals with other equivalent qualifications acceptable by the examination board of HKITA.

        2. Award of Diploma

          A candidate passing all subjects in the examination held by HKITA will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Apparel Studies and Merchandising. A candidate needs to pass all six required subjects within four years to earn the Diploma, starting from registration for the examination. If a candidate fails to pass all six subjects within four years, he/she has to register for the examination again.

      2. Graduate Diploma in Apparel Merchandising and Marketing

        1. Entrance Requirements

          1. at least 20 years of age on or before the time of the examination, AND

          2. A student/licentiate member of HKITA;AND

            1. a holder of Advanced Diploma in Apparel Studies & Merchandising of the Hong Kong Institution of Textiles and Apparel (HKITA) or Higher Diploma in Fashion and Textile Studies or related fields; OR

            2. individuals with other equivalent qualifications acceptable by the examination board of HKITA.

        2. Award of Diploma

          A candidate passing all subjects in the examination (including a dissertation) held by HKITA will be awarded the Graduate Diploma in Apparel Merchandising and Markeging. A candidate needs to pass all eight required subjects and a dissertation within four years to earn the Diploma, starting from registration for the examination. If a candidate fails to pass all eight subjects or the dissertation within four years, he/she has to register for the examination again.

        4. A relevant dissertation based on a project carried out during the candidates industrial experience. The dissertation must be submitted to the examination board of the HKITA not later than four years after the registration for examination.
