Knitwear Innovation and Design Society – “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024” Finalists’ Exhibition & Grand Final Fashion Show @ CENTRESTAGE 2024

Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) organized the “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024” to provide a platform for young knitwear designers to develop their talents. The “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024” will have a Finalists’ Exhibition from 4 to 7 September and a Grand Final Fashion Show on 6 September at CENTRESTAGE 2024, showing Knitwear Design Collections from Hong Kong & Greater Bay Area. All these knitwear outfits are designed by the 9 FINALISTS of the ‘Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024’. This fashion show will be the Finals of the ‘Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024,’ and you will witness the Announcement of the Winners of the Contest in the show.

HKDC – Design Spectrum: Pass The Baton

Design Spectrum will present its first exhibition in 2024, a new thematic exhibition titled ‘Pass The Baton’, from 15 May to 23 September 2024.

Divided into three parts, the exhibition aims to reveal the all-round value of things, and explore the concept of ‘inheritance’ from tangible and intangible perspectives. Part 1 of the exhibition: ‘From Passing By To Passing On’ will be launched on 15 May, acts as a prologue, offering an introduction and laying the foundations for further exploration. Part 2 of the exhibition: ‘From Process To Progress’ will continue the exploration in July, showing how design elevates a standard process to progress when it is needed. Part 3 of the exhibition: ‘From Future To Now’ will then take place in August, bringing together the preceding sections, creating a cohesive and comprehensive experience.

Part 1: ‘From Passing By To Passing On
Part 1: ‘From Passing By To Passing On’ to be launched on 15 May, features over 20 design projects from Hong Kong, the Mainland, the Netherlands, Italy, and Iceland. This part will explore the role of design in ‘Inheritance’ and show how value can be represented through design, bringing ideas on how should we respond to this global topic.

Knitwear Innovation and Design Society (KIDS) organized the “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024” to provide a platform for young knitwear designers to develop their talents. The “Young Knitwear Designers’ Contest 2024” will hold a free seminar “Together We Knit the Future Fashion” on 15 Mar 2024. This seminar aims to let fashion designers and industry professionals understand new technologies of knitwear and market information of the fashion industry.

The seminar invited Ms. Jessica Lee from UNIFi3D, Ms. Marianne McLean-Atkins (Knitwear Designer), Mr. Harry Lui from Smark Global and Mr. Stanley Kwok from KnitWarm to be the guest speakers and they will share us their experiences and insights on virtual fashion, sustainable knitwear design, tips on operation of fashion e-shop and knitwear innovation.

The Guangdong Textile Engineering Society, the Guangdong Institution of Engineers, and HKITA – Certification Ceremony of Guangdong- Hong Kong Mutual Recognition of Engineer Competency Evaluation

In order to strengthen the exchange and integration of textile engineering and technical personnel in Guangdong Province and Hong Kong, promote the mutual recognition of the ability evaluation of engineers in the Greater Bay Area, and promote the flow of talents and collaborative innovation and development in the Greater Bay Area. HKITA cooperates with the Guangdong Textile Engineering Society, the Guangdong Institution of Engineers in carrying out the mutual recognition of the competence evaluation of textile engineers in Guangdong and Hong Kong.

 

On 29 Jan 2024, the Guangdong Textile Engineering Society, the Guangdong Institution of Engineers, and HKITA held a certification ceremony for the first batch of Guangdong and Hong Kong engineers in the textile field in Qingyuan, Guangdong. HKITA Chairman Prof. Kan Chi Wai attended this ceremony and presented certificates to the first batch of engineers certified by Hong Kong in the textile field.

Clothing Industry Training Authority – Diploma Programme (CEF course)

Clothing Industry Training Authority is organizing the Diploma Programmes: Diploma in Fashion Creation Technology and Diploma in Fashion Product Development. These courses are designed for those who intend to develop in the apparel industry, the purpose is to enable students to understand the operation and process from design to finish product, so as to master various abilities as the cornerstone of entering the clothing industry or creating their brand.

The programme equips students with technical competence in fashion clothing creation (cut and sewn). Students will learn about the technical knowledge in the area of textile materials, pattern design and clothing production.
